WHAT'S NEW?

England Rugby is introducing a major upgrade to how it supports coaches, match officials and volunteers to complete essential training and access resources.

These changes will go live at the end of July and are designed to make learning simpler, more personalised and easier to complete on mobile devices - giving volunteers more confidence in their roles while reducing the administrative burden on Clubs.

Users will be able to:

  • Learn anytime, anywhere.
  • Get specific content for your role.
  • Follow clear pathways.
  • Track your progress.
  • Keep yourself at the top of your game.

A further benefit of the upgrade will be enhanced reporting on GMS for Clubs and County CBs, including a new dashboard that provides a clear overview of individuals’ progress through role-specific learning and completion status. The platform will also send reminders and notifications directly to individuals, as well as recommend next steps in their learning journey.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

1. GMS eLearning Courses

  • Headcase
  • Introduction to Safeguarding
  • TackleSafe

Please note - these online courses are temporarily unavailable and will be updated and made available on England Rugby Learning later in July.

2. DBS Applications

Please note - all those that complete a DBS application before 1st August 2026 will be asked to complete the Introduction to Safeguarding on the new England Rugby Learning platform by 31 January 2027.

3. Qualification Expiry Updates

  • Play it Safe
  • Emergency First Aid in Rugby Union
  • In Touch
  • Headcase
  • Introduction to Safeguarding

Please note - going forward, these courses will expire on GMS profiles three years after completion and will follow a three-year renewal cycle on England Rugby Learning.  All existing GMS records for Introduction to Safeguarding and Headcase will expire from 1st August 2026 and volunteers who have recently completed these courses are recommended to re-complete the training by 31st January 2027.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

There are no actions to take right now. Ahead of the upgrade launch at the end of July, club volunteers will receive further details.  In the meantime, you can find out more about the platform and the learning available to support you and others in your club HERE.

If you’d like to learn more about England Rugby Learning, and are not currently signed up to one of the CCC Workshops, please join one of the upcoming webinars and feel free to share with others in your club:
