U20s Team Manager
Lancashire County RFU are a Constituent Body of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and we are looking to appoint a Team Manager for the U20s Season 2025/26.
This will entail providing management support to the Squad of community rugby-based players (Level 5 and below) and county-based University Players (BUCS Premier 2 and below) to enable them to perform at their best for the County Squad in the Jason Leonard U20 County Championships and for players to have the chance to be selected for England Rugby North U20 Divisional Squad.
This role is a voluntary but provides the chance to work with a talented coaching team and squad plus experience the cut and thrust of County Championship rugby and its representative environment.
As the U20 Team Manager you will:

The U20 programme for 2025/26 is currently under a RFU review but we expect your commitment will commence in September (Trial planning stage) then practice session planning followed by the competition match dates which could be as early as November thru to March/April, with the County Championship Final at the end of May or early June.
Key Requirements and Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of high-quality coaching and player programme in a very tight time frame.
- Work as the vital part of the U20 Management Group conduit with the squad.
- Strong communication skills - providing details of training sessions and matches to the squad and staff and produce match programme updates and reports for the County Information Systems (social media) conforming to our “Lancashire RFU Brand”• Develop strong relationships with coaches, volunteers and players within the county and beyond.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset and willingness to help create an environment for players to perform at their best.
- Support identifying highly talented players who have the potential to play Divisional rugby for the North.
- Successful candidates will need to complete the RFU Headcase online learning and Play it Safe workshop.
- Coaching knowledge/experience would be helpful but not essential
- Prior knowledge of Representative Rugby environment and or Team Manager role at Club or School/University level essential.
- Build relationships with clubs/universities that contribute, or who might be able to contribute players to the Squad.
Role Duration
The planned term of this appointment is for this position to be for three seasons (plus a further one season option) subject to annual review to enable the programme to have some continuity and build on previous seasons.
